Blog-a-versary Challenge! October 8-17

Hi!
Today I'm doing something a little different... October is my blog-a-versary! Yep, it was one year ago that I started this blog and launched the Crafty Card Gallery app... Little did I know how much fun I would have and how many nice people I would meet....

So I wanted to do something FUN!!! to celebrate my blog-a-versary.... I have a TV in my craft room, and I often watch/listen to the show Chopped on Food Network. If you've never seen the show, it's quite entertaining. Chefs get a basket of mystery ingredients with just a few minutes, and have to come up with an amazing meal. I find the show quite entertaining, especially when the ingredients seem so... random...

So I posted on my Facebook page that I wanted to do something different and was looking for volunteers - and there were 8 ladies who were brave enough to join me in an unknown challenge!

Here's what I told them:
I will send you an envelope with some products in them (paper & embellishments). Each person got the same exact products in their envelope. You will need to make a card using each of the products. You must use at least a part of each of the products, you must be able to tell it was the initial product (meaning if it's a piece of white paper, you can't color it entirely another color). You can use whatever products or techniques you want, and the card can be any size. You can also add whatever products you want to the card.

I mailed them an envelope with the following items.
The contents:
Embellishments: floral embellishments, japanese cording, happy birthday, gems, page pebble and frame

Papers - the green floral is an oragami paper (double sided). You don't have to use all of the paper, but you have to use some of each piece. The two that are cut into two pieces is so they'd fit in the envelope... :)

The only rules were:
You can use as little or as much of an item as you want, provided you must use some of each item and it must be identifiable (you can't color white paper purple, for example).
The inside of the card counts as well as the front, but it can't just be a way to dump everything. It has to go with the card.

I gave them a few weeks (just in case the mail was slow), and they created some phenominal cards!!! I have to say, when I was putting all of the pieces together, I couldn't imagine any cards as awesome as what was created!

So, to make this more interesting, you, my blog readers get to vote for your favorite card......

The cards aren't labeled by who did them, but by number... So vote based on your favorite... The card with the most votes will get a prize & I will select one comment randomly for a prize.. I'd love to hear if you'd like to participate in one of these types of challenges in the future or see more of these..

Voting will take place until the 17th...

  12. Oh my goodness! What a fun idea - I love Chopped! I would love to see more of these, but I would be afraid to enter - these cards are all out of my league! Card #1 was my favorite until I saw card #5! I voted for card #5, but I still love card #1 because it seems like something I would have tried. Thanks for sharing this fun challenge!
