I'm pleased to be part of the Operation Write Home "Be My Valentine" Blog Hop.
As you probably already know, Operation Write Home is a great organization that sends handmade cards to the troops so they can keep in touch with their families.
If you'd like to send cards to Operation Write Home, Valentines Day cards have to be submitted by January 7th. As an added incentive to send Valentines Day cards - check out this link http://www.owhhomefrontblog.org/2010/11/special-mission-due-dec-1.html. Archway will send cookies to the troops too! YUM! It's too late to send Christmas cards for this year. Please be sure to vote for Operation Write Home in JoAnn's contest - they could win $50,000!!! You can only vote once per day. http://www.joann.com/CraftForaCause

Now on to my Valentines day card:
Front, card closed
Front, card closed
Inside of card - side panels were left blank to leave room to write
Card from the back so you can see the folds & the paper covering the ribbon
This was sort of difficult to do for the initial card, but now that I've done one, I think it would be easier to mass produce. I used my Gypsy & Cricut to cut out the shape. (I welded 4 hearts together). I then cut out the different pieces of paper by hand (I cut a template with the Cricut) so that I could have the right paper pattern portion show. I used paper, bling and stickers from Bo Bunny, as well as some colored cardstock & ribbon. I love the little birds in this paper! I put a magnet in the ribbon so that the recipient wouldn't have to re-tie it (I always have a hard time tying bows!)

And in case I couldn't get this card to work, I had thought up a "backup card". I got the free digi from Julietk Blog, used Bo Bunny paper as a background, used a Stampin up border punch on the red paper, and used Bo Bunny bling. I colored the cats with Stampin Up Watercolor Wonders. I thought the image of the two cats was just adorable.
