Hello again to the fans of Crafty Card Gallery!
My name is Ellen (a.k.a., CardMonkey) and I have been given the honor of Guest Hosting Jennifer's Crafty Card Galley for the week. This is my fifth posting ... if you missed my cards earlier this week, simple enough -- scroll down to view them.
I've made a slew of cards -- my favorite thing to do -- which I'll be featuring in no particular order this week. If you have questions about techniques, papers, etc., c'mon over to my blog at www.cardmonkey-business.blogspot.com.
This is one of my very favorite cards I've made in the past. I made it for a Frog Hop sponsored by Karelj, just for my stash. But I liked it so much, I never sent it anywhere. Do you do this as often as I do?!
For this card, I relied on an image from a Penny Black stamp I have -- but it wasn't the right size for my card. So I stamped the image, put it into my copier to enlarge it, and then freehand traced the image using a fine-tipped marker. (This is why I prefer digi-images!!) It's not perfect -- but I tell my daughter that "not perfect" = handmade with love.
I colored the image using Prisma pencils and Copic markers. I then double-mounted the image onto green and hot-pink cardstock and machine stitched around the edge. For the easel card, I used a hot pink cardstock for the base of the easel, and white for the top part of the easel. I covered the white with a pink plaid paper and white stock that I punched using my Martha Stewart punch-around-the-page Eyelet Lace punch. Love those, though I rarely get my sizing right for the corners. I need more practice!
The ribbon was just green with white printed dots. I colored in alternate dots with a hot pink Copic marker for an unusual flair. The bottom sentiment ("It's not easy being green") was set on my computer and embellished with silk flowers with green brads, as well as punched leaves using Punch a Bunch leaf punches.
I made those cute stick pins, using bead head pins and decorative beads. I call them EmbEllies, and I have them for sale on my website.
Before buying via PayPal online, send me a message ... mention this posting in that message to me and I'll give you 50% off your EmbEllies order this week only!
